sliding bathroom mirror - cnc rail hardware
My project goal is to pay tribute to CNC and have a unique look for my sliding bathroom mirror.
I\'m facing a challenge right away, which is to put the mirror on the slide and not let it stand --
Farther from the wall than it needs.
The slide mirror project is designed to surround the slide block using a 3D printed stand.
The printed stand is designed to allow the block to be attached to the back of the wide frame.
In this example, the selected mirror has a wooden frame, a material that is easily attached to the frame.
The CNC rails and sliders used are the standard SBR20 I found on Amazon.
The Design and Installation examples I show here are based on the option to install the mirror from a single top track and hang it.
I have included a sample handle (3D Print)stand-
In order for the guide rail to slide smoothly, the bottom of the mirror needs to be closed.
This design can also be used in double
Track configuration (top and bottom)
Added stability and a unique CNC look.
In both cases, you need to decide the length of the track or the distance the mirror slides.

Each 3D printer may be slightly different and I would suggest printing a set on the slide and testing it.

The video shows how I originally installed the stand on the mirror and tested the slides.
I start with every screw in two track blocks.
I then feed the rails in and make sure it slides freely.
With the connection of the slide and the track, I screwed the rest of the corner on the stand with a penny screw, and I made sure that the frame width would not be longer and would not come out of the other side.
You will also need to place the bracket so that there will be no screws touching the glass of the mirror.
Things to Consider. .
Finally, I took the whole assembly down and took it to the wall and moved it.
I do this because I should also consider the travel distance at each end, and the best position for the rail connection of the given structure behind the wall I can screw in.
There are no holes in the railway, so strategic planning is needed.
Attach the bracket to the Mirror, the guide rail slides in, you need help to lean the entire assembly against the wall and mark the guide rail and the wall for drilling.
This exercise will also determine the type of fastener you are using.
In my case, I aimed the bolt with two \"wood screws.
I also used a longer handle counter that I could pass through the edges of the circular part of the track.
I finally found three fixed positions.
There are two on the top and one in the middle is in the bolt position.
I used the long flat head screws and the counter table to make sure the screws don\'t interfere with the moment of the mirror.
If you choose to use only the top track, it is important to use a stand-off to keep the mirror vertical.
Slides do not move freely if the mirror is not vertical.
